    I'm trying to find a prototype, buuut I'm probabl going to end up doing a (somewhat)freelanced layout. I *might be getting a space aroung 15x8' in which to build a layout. I would be able to use one to two of the 8' walls and one 15' wall. Things I would like on the layout;
    -yard
    -engine servicing facility for both steam and deisel locomotives. NOTE; I collect modern day norfolk southern and 1940/50's PRR. I am more firmly rooted in the 40/50's era, so I need a decent sie facility with a smaller deisel faility.
    -a good ammount of switching, but not an overly complicated track plan i.e. i dont want a five track mainline ;)
    -a passenger station; doesnt need to be 100% prototype, but must be beleivable
    -a one or two track mainline
    If you can think of a single track line that is preferable, and i love appilacia so although that is prefered i would take single track over appilacia
    Any ideas would be greatly apriciated

    ps. if you think of all the above that incorperates a small shortline that could opperate F's and geeps you'd make my day!

    Nothing wrong with freelancing. Even if doing PRR, you could build a "what if" line connecting to some part of the real system.

    Yea, that was my thought. I like prototype slightly more because everything is already layed out, but it can make things less flexible. I can create a "what if" proto-freelanced PRR line in rural appilacia the became Norfolk Southern and therefore fits m needs. also, i could make it so the engine servicing (for steam) was a museum in modern day, thus i wouldnt have to remove any of the rolling stock. Also, it's not that hard to remove/add a building or two so i can model both era's. The museum could have/be part of a small shortline that operates vintage F units and geeps and provides a variety of passenger rolling tock for the modern day railroading.. That might be what I do. Now for the plan.....
