Hi folks, Here is my third D&RGW caboose. The 01479 is one of a welded type caboose, so no rivets. The caboose is completely scratchbuild out of Evergreen styrene and some phosphor bronze wire. MTL trucks and couplers. Decals are self designed in black. The artwork PDF has been printed at a copy center with white ink. They just replaced a the black toner cartridge for a white toner cartridge. See how it was done at my picasa album: https://picasaweb.google.com/108766641213050685068/DRGWCaboose01479?authkey=Gv1sRgCPTukbfj3qCjRg#
Wow this is nice!. I really want to try and make my own caboose. Im poking around the internet right now for bronze wire. I was thinking of getting the Zealatory´s caboose step kit and work from there. If you have found a place that prints white, for your decals, tat right there is gold. Are you coming to Altenbecken ?
Unfortunately , I will not be at the Altenbeken Z show. Caboose steps can be made fairly easy from Evergreen strips. The white decals were printed by http://www.star-copy.nl/ in Apeldoorn in the Netherlands. Their homepage is in Dutch. As I said, you just send them a PDF with black decals and ask them to print it in white on decal paper.
Very nice! I am amazed at how much detail you put into it. Great stuff. You should submit your cabeese to Ztrack
Great lookin' caboose, and great work as always!! Maybe you could show this to AZL or Micro Trains, so we could all have one or two!! We're dying to have these built in Z!!
I'lll guess building your own will be the easiest for d&rgw cabeese. The market is too small for a caboose which is use by just one railroad. Check out how I did it and give it a go.
Most people dont care. I have some nice plans for some wooden cabeese for my favorite railroad. down to the nuts and bolts. As long as mine is accurate, everyone else can put whatever decal they want
