Like the title says, I am unable to program CV06 - v-mid.

I am using a Digitrax Zep -- on program track connected to prog A - prog B.

    (2) Bachmann N EMD GP7 Diesel Locomotive DCC - Both loco's give same code.

I hit program mode -> page -> than hit CV -> type in cv06 than CV-RD. Off the top of my head I think it reads d002. (I'm @ work)
I than put in 38 and CV-WR. Repeat step to see if it took it and it reads d002 again. Both trains stuck on d002.

    I am able to change CV02 V-Start and CV05 V-Max, just not CV06.

I read a reply on another post.

You have to adjust the starting speed by setting CV 2 so the loco starts to move on speed step 1. Before I adjust CV 2, I set CV's 3 and 4 (Acceleration and deceleration )to 0. I also set CV5 (top speed) to 255 and CV 6 (mid speed to) 125. Start setting CV 2 set to around 50 and work your way down to the value that gets the loco to start moving on speed step 1. Make sure your track and the wheels are clean before you begin programming.

Do I have to set CV5 than CV6 and CV2 last? Or Follow the above steps order?

Why am I changing the speed table? speed matching and setting locomotives up to mull.

    Thanks

If they are Bachmann decoders then CV-6 may not be adjustable. CV-5 may not be adjustable either and you may just think that you have adjusted it. Some decoders do not support all the CV's that you would want to change. I have several decoder equipped Bachmann locos on which CV's five and six are not adjustable. I always go through the motions anyway and adjust them. I usually install Digitrax decoders to replace OME decoders and I usually buy only non-decoder equipped locos with a couple of exceptions. I only use PG mode for programming addresses. CV changes I do on the main in PO mode (ops mode).

Thank you much for the reply !

I thought maybe I was doing something wrong or needed to do it different.
Since I am new to dcc, I still have a lot to learn.

I changed CV-5 a few times and seems to work. When I first set them to mull you could see a big speed difference.
After changing CV-5 3 to 4 times, they are very close now. Granted, they are on a small piece of track.

I installed the decoder in my Kato SD70 which was easy.
But ! After installing one in bachmann 2-8-0, no more steams for me unless the decoder is installed.
    That was not fun !!!!

    Thanks again !!!

The Bachmann steam loco decoder install is the one exception I mentioned. I have a couple of the 2-8-0's without decoders that I'm looking for someone to install sound in and the 4-6-0's and the 2-6-0's ,I bought decoder equipped.

I see why ! I am so glad I bought my 2-8-8-4 with the decoder installed.
But! It was worth doing, at least once. Just not again.... ;-)

Looking back at your original post and your subsequent replies, you never stated the make of decoders you installed, leading me to make an incorrect answer, believing you have Bachmann decoders in your locos. If you have say Digitrax decoders all the CV's are adjustable and you may be doing something wrong. So what are they?

No you were correct. They are factory installed decoders from Bachmann.

I installed the decoder in my
    Bachmann 2-8-0
    Kato SD70ACe hert.

    Bought with factory installed decoders
    (2) Bachmann EMD GP7
    Bachmann 2-8-8-4 B & O

I would only use the program track to program addresses in PG mode. Do CV adjusting by programming on the main in PO mode. I have the Super Empire Builder and that is my regular way of programming. Adjusting CV's 3 and 4 first and CV's 5 and 6 ahead of adjusting CV 2 will help.
