I've subscribed to N Scale Magazine, N Scale Railroading and Model Railroader for years now. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
I would also recommend you join the NMRA. It supports our hobby , among other things, and they actually have a great magazine you get as well. I get nearly every one of them and enjoy them all. Mike
I have subscribed to Model Railroading for about 50 years now, and the publications of the Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society (and its predecessors) for 40 years. I also occasionally pick up copies of N Scale and Railroad Model Craftsman. I am fighting my railroad library for room to build a layout.
I don't currently subscribe to any, but my thoughts on a variety: Model Railroader - great variety of articles, different scales and skill levels covered, I have picked up a great deal of information from this and have subscribed in the past N Scale Railroading - I like this much the way I do Model Railroader, albeit it stays on topic with N scale. I've copied techniques from many of the great articles I've found here over the years, including seeing TB contributors published here. As an aside, Kirk Reddie (the publisher here) at least used to encourage folks to buy this from their LHS rather than subscribing! N Scale - often has a lot of fascinating and inspirational articles, but geared a little too much to the craftsman level for my taste Also, as has been indicated, don't overlook the historical society of the road you focus on, also look at Trains for general informatin and inspiration.
For now, Model Railroader. It tends to touch to have a major N Scale article per issue, and several smaller ones, but it doesn't share with other scales so they aren't as exclusive as the N Scale mags.
I sub N scale mag and MR, both are OK. I wish N scale Mag was bigger and less crowded by ads, especially for the price they charge and only print 6 mags a year when I'm paying a similar price to MR it'd be nice to have at least a bit more content.
I don't subscribe to any of them. I pick up copies of MR, N Scale Railroading and N Scale at the LHS. I had subscriptions, but have not renewed them in quite some time.
