I'm trying to make an onboard video camera and power it through the track. I bought a wireless camera off eBay and I'm connecting it through a DigiTrax DH 123D two function decoder. I'm using the headlight function to activate the camera, when I set it on the track the camera comes on just like it should when I turn the light on. The problem I'm having is when I just push the car little bit on the track I get a lot of interference and my picture goes all fuzzy until I stop then it straightens out. I think I may be getting either interference from my wheels rolling along the track, or possibly the infrared signal from my handheld controller. Has anybody ever tried this before and I'm open to suggestions of things to try. I'm curious if using a capacitor coming off the track power to the decoder may solve my problem.

I added capacitors to both the positive and negative leads between the track power and decoder. I can't remember off hand what size capacitors the are but it seems to have solved the issue.

I had the same, (similar) problem with the radio in my first car 60 years ago. Static took over everything. Turns out the radio was picking up noise from the spark plugs. Placing a capacitor on the distributor took care of it. :)
Glad you have solved the problem. Now ... when do we get to see the video?

Hopefully sooner than later. I'm in the process of finishing the basement and a new train room is going to be added. Right now everything is boxed up except for a few little projects I've been working on (like the onboard camera) and some lengths of EZ track I can throw together quickly to test the projects.
