I received a Kato GG-1 for Christmas. It is a real beauty ,however it is leaning to one side on a level surface. Is there any way to correct this. I really don`t want to send it back if there is anything that can be done here without breaking it. Has anyone else had this problem? I ordered another one #4913 5 stripe, should be here in a few days
Thanks Mark ! I don`t have a track to run it on yet,but this will give me something to investigate. It leans as if it was on a super-elevated curve while it is on the flat.
I have two of these untis. But have never detected a lean to one side or the other. I'm tending toward the shell not being snapped all the way down as well. On the otherhand, both the front and back have rather intricate truck assemblies. It's possible the linkage on one of the ends is out of whack and causing the lean.
I am not in N scale, so don't know this loco at all. However, the info above seems perfectly reasonable to explore carefully. Also, axles not properly seated at their ends, trucks not properly set on the frame post, a washer not centered well...there are various possibilities, gear tower not meshed with the gear on the end of the driveshaft...
Thanks to all for the suggestions. I just received my #4913 5 stripe GG-1 and that one is fine. I haven`t gone inside on the first one yet,but will post what I find on here as soon as I do.
