I started my layout and already made changes from the original as shown in the last four photos in the slide show. I will keep adding to the slide show as I go. Please feel free to comment on what you see ideas are always welcome. OK so here it is. http://s543.photobucket.com/user/johne230/slideshow/Trains
John, you definitely are making impressive progress. It also is obvious that you have an active imagination...the mountainous contour in the upper right and the hill foundation in the upper left do not show on your plan, but are well created from free-hand. Well done, my friend.
Thank you for the compliment . I took a look at your layout it is a work of art I wish I had that wuch room to dedicate to my layout.
Looks like you're off to a great start. If you haven't explored this aspect of TrainBoard yet, there is a group focused on UniTrack layouts that may be of interest. I also have to say, this is the first time in a while that I can remember seeing someone using a double crossover!
OK this is it the final layout. I am going to get the mountains finished then take off the track and fine tune the ground work, cut out the water and put a coat of earth tone paint on.
Thank you guys for the kind words. Ihave a question. I am trying to decide what color and size gravel to use as parking areas and road for my layout .I am leaning towards a buff color what do you guys think?
I guess it depends on where you live/where you are modeling. Around here... driveway stone tends to be grey with white and a touch of brown since that's what the local quarries are getting out of the ground.
Out here in Arizona we use mostly red cinder for roads and driveways. There is an abundance of stuff available from landscapers and the local cinder pits
