Has anyone seen a layout or model of the Brooklyn Army Terminal? I have been looking at it lately and keep coming back to how this could really make a neat layout, especially with the new Bachmann 44ton engines, Micro Trains and Atlas Army freight cars.

There are docks to cross load freight to Liberty Ships and Rail barges, as well as interchange with the LIRR and Brooklyn Terminal RRs.

Looking at the area outlined in Red, would have to selective compress the yard areas and some of the buildings. What do you guys think?

Lots of potential. Would also be a chance to model ships. You could build it on something like a hollow core door and integrate it into a larger layout at a later date.

I would think that by reducing the number of tracks in the yards (maybe 50%?) and maybe just two of the three piers/wharves, it could be worthwhile, and certainly very interesting!

You may be interested in this http://teamtrack.xooit.com/t451-NEW-YORK-RAIL-MARINE-OPERATIONS.htm - It is a French modelling site, but can be put through Google Translate to get some (slightly odd) translation into English - be advised that there are 19 pages, with some very good modelling. I did a small model of the Erie Bronx E149th street terminal - pictures should be here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/3354-jacks-in-or-shortliners-shortline/ - another multi page thread
