I've been away from modeling for a while. I saw a post somewhere that said this site, Train Board, was one of the better ones for N-Scale and Z-Scale. Since I dabble in HO, N and Z, I figured I would sign up...glad I did. What are the best model railroading forums to join for info on these three scales?

Thanks in advance for the info,

    John

When I need to get my N Scale fix on, outside of trainboard.com I go to NScale.net.

I would try joining a few, if only to be able to use the "new posts" feature and keep up with what's being said. Each forum has different strong and weak points and a different atmosphere. Some tolerate flaming and discourtesy, others it's less of a problem. You probably won't get a good idea of which one is best for you until you make a few posts, ask some questions, see what people say, how helpful or welcoming they are. (On the other hand, I wouldn't post a "Hi from newbie" sort of post, simply because you'll get a certain number of stock glad-ta-see-ya posts that might delay you getting a clearer picture of what the forum is like.)

We have a separate area for introductions. It works very well for those who are tentatively testing the waters.

Besides this site, railroadline, modelrailroadhobbyist, Big Blue (the Gauge), modelrailroadforums, and the trains.com series of classic toy and prototype, model, and simulation.

I belong to 3 other forum beside Trainboard.com. Modelrailroadhobbyist is an online free magazine, these two are for all scales. Now for N Scale there is nscale.net and nscale.org.

Guys, I really appreciate the info. I have signed up now for Trainboard, Model Railroad Forums and N-Scale.net. I think these will keep me busy. Anyone know what the best forum is for Z-Scale? It kind of interests me for long running trains but I am not sure my eyes can handle it yet or not. Hehehe

There are many more internet MR forums out there. My current list includes Big Blue, Diesel Detailer, Model Railroad Forums, Model Railroad Hobbyist, TrainBoard, TrainLife, Whistle Post & Zealot Hobby Forum. This list is just alphabetical. But the last one doesn't "turn" very often. TrainBoard IS a very good forum, but it doesn't hurt to get a "second opinion" sometimes. And it helps to be retired so you can read them all. :)
Also belong to Umpteen Yahoo Group MR & RR forums too numerous to list. Here's a link to find ones you might be interested in (they all require membership but it's free): http://groups.yahoo.com/ There's also quite a few Yahoo Group MR buying/selling sites. These have been discussed on this forum elsewhere.
