I agree with you Mark & Bob Craig. I tried to get as close as possible for the sake of the rivet counters. I think Armour Yellow, in any make of paint, comes out different every time I use it!

    Cheers, Bob.

I came up with yet another way to screw this up...

All done with paint & wallpaper. Tool boxes, ladders & lights mounted. Draft gear screwed in place.

Push the kingpins in place and we're done.

...and it explodes in my hand.

Jim Adams will soldier on alone because Joe Jordan is no more.

    Hi Bob,

That sucks, which bit got damaged? I can make just that bit available on Shapeways if you want to resurrect it?

The chasses are pretty fragile, so I try to make the bolster pin holes big enough that the pins are a little loose (and thus easily inserted). Then maybe add a little white glue if they turn out to be too loose.

    Cheers,

When I did final assembly on Jim Adams, the bolster pins seated nicely with a firm push. Same with the first truck on Joe.

On the second truck the floor collapsed, the truck split and the shell exploded in the blink of an eye.

I hadn't attached the ladders yet and I removed the couplers.

    Everything else is toast.

My God Bob, what did you paint it with.....nitro-glycerin?

Sorry to hear of your loss though.

    First, the good:

    ...and the not so:

    Like I said, exploded. :crying:

If I end up adding a Cheyenne-like roundhouse to the pike, I could have the "good" end peeking out of one of the stalls...

    Trackside scene??
Heavily stained and sitting in a BIG puddle of Bunker C??
Remains of the locomotive that hit the tender??
    Just a nasty suggestion!! :teeth:

An unfortunate reminder of how brittle the FUD material is. This is definitely a cautionary tale for when time permits to paint and decal mine.

Good gravy, I don't know what the best way to strip paint off one of these things is, but 91% alcohol ain't it!

It just figures. I finished spraying the yellow layer and then clumsily knocked it over on its side while it was drying - thus getting a bunch of workbench crud stuck in the paint. So, I immersed it in an alcohol bath in order to start over, and... d'oh!

    Cheers,

Ouch!! Accident scene materials now perhaps??
Still have 2 Krauss Maffei bodies to deal with. Someday!
