Very nice Don't know of any chain that fine - except maybe at a jewellers I think the smallest chain I can get is about 20+ links per inch.
The decks on those look awesome. I would suggest you use cross-stitch floss to represent chain. What I do is take three strands of one of the metallic flosses (basically a thread, made by a company named DMC and available in the craft section of any store) and twist them together real tight. Apply thin CA or thinned white glue to bond it together and give it rigidity (how's that for a word?) Paint grimy black when dry, cut to length, and attach with a gel CA.
actually jason the only thing holding the load on is the brass wire hold downs, they are glued in place but can be removed with little effort.
For vey fine chains, try the model ship suppliers. I don't know how much to scale that would be. I do like the cross stitch floss idea. http://www.bluejacketinc.com/ Notice the HO and N scale section for ships. I am sure there are more. This one is in the USA; Germany or Great Britain have some really nice ones, but I don't have the url.
Looks like a good year for potatos! <heh heh> Very nice work, Mopac3092 and Jason. I think Detail Associates made 40-link per inch chain, I bought all I could find, I have heard but not confirmed they don't make it anymore.
Here are some nice wide and tall loads. I wish I could take credit for them, but they were built by Charlie Hopkins. I am not sure what he used for the flatcars, but they have been custom built for sure.
That's a Northern Pacific Railway Great Baked Potato from Idaho! Seriously, high and wide loads seem to be something that's missing from many of our moel railroads. While some are uncommon in appearance, there are many oversize loads moving on railroads every day. Boxcab E50
would look better in bits in a gondola. Has given me a good idea for a union pathetic shell... whoppit
hey now, i know uncle petepie is a good target, but let's keep it above the belt here I do think that is a good looking shot though eagle. Seen numerous prototypical ones out surfing www land
These are not really high or wide, but I still think they are cool. I just finished this one tonight.
