    From Testors Corp:
There are many changes taking place at The Testor Corporation. For over 80 years, we have provided premium paints and finishing systems to the craft and hobby industry. Recently we announced that we are transforming our business in order to more effectively address the changing needs of our consumers and their interests.

We've made the decision to exit the following businesses within the Testor Brand family - Pactra , Floquil , PollyScale , and ColorArtz . This will enable The Testor Corporation to return to our foundation of success providing premium, innovative product that inspires creativity. We will continue to accept orders and ship product for a limited time based on available quantities.

Going forward, the following brands will be critical to our success and development - Testor , Model Master , and Aztek. These brands will be infused with marketing support, innovation and operational efficiencies.

In support of this, we have announced a consolidation of operations at our Rockford facilities. Our commitment to the Testor brand has never been stronger. By implementing these changes, and the ability to leverage all of Rust-Oleum's world class services, we are more strongly poised to take our business to the next level through product and merchandising innovations, and increased customer understanding.

If you have further questions, please feel free to let us know.

    We appreciate your business!!

    Sincerely,
    Beth

Yep. You should read some of the comments on their facebook page. It all boils down to corp greed. They made 3.8 billion in sales last year and that wasn't enough. They want 5 billion next year. So they close some factories, lay a bunch of people off and consolidate just like corp Amwerica always does.

This is one person that REFUSES to buy another Testors prodcuct EVER AGAIN!!!! That includes things produced by their parent co, which includes the product Rust-Oleum.

I think we should all buy some "glass belly buttons" and ship them to the Testors execs and ask them if they need this to see the light of day since their heads are buried you know where.

There is another thread here on TB, where a discussion of the same topic has ensued. See: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?151005-Bye-Bye-Floquil-Pollyscale-amp-Pactra

I wondered back when, what Testor's was up to when they purchased the so named companies. It's just like American firms to buy up and then shut them down. No competition that way. Now they can do what they want.

The reality is less and less of us modelers are doing our own paint jobs and decaling. Mine have never turned out as well as the professionals and I quit playing around with that perceived mess. Ready to run seems to be doing a good job of fabricating what we've screamed and yelled for over the years. The only reason Micro-Scale and the Poly Scale paint companies succeeded was because we couldn't get what we wanted..........ready to run.

Bound to happen. Like a friend of mine said, "Vote with your wallet".

I have used a lot of Scalecoat in the past. It's good stuff. The only thing is that Scalecoat II is not acrylic (for use on RP models). And since it is all solvent based, it is all "hazardous materials" which causes shipping restrictions. Other than that, Scalecoat I & II are both excellent products.

I have never used ScaleCoat or ScaleCoat 2 for that matter. One of them has been known to warp plastics. I stay away from it for that one reason.

Scalecoat I is intended only for metal and wood. I haven't had a problem with Scalecoat II on any injection molded model or resin cast items. It probably would dissolve Acrylic RP items.
