this is my first weathering attempt. so far im happy with it. i used acrylic paint. before i did anything i sprayed it with 1 layer of dull coat. the paint is water baced and it is brown iron oxyde. after the dull coat dried, i sprad the paint with my finger to get the blochy look. the i dried almost instantly. i applyed more for a more weathered look.
Man, I always like this! I am a big weathering fan because I don't think you can mess it up in most cases. Is there a url or a picture?
go to http://www.nscale.org/defaulteng_forum.htm then click on active topics. that is in the tool bar for the sight. at the bottom, there is a bar that says "jumt to:" in the list, look for general. it is the 4th down on the likst. then click on it. click on all topics allowd here. in the list, look for "first weathering attempts" by teenage_modler. that is my forum and the pics in there. It does look good. Pretty heavy weathering, so try for a lighter coat next time. On my layout, I have to be able to read the reporting marks. Very nice, though.
i have a roster list of all my cars. i did kinda went a bit too heavy...oops. ohwell. first time mistakes. i had a urge to try and weather things. i was getting tired of just looking at clean cars so i dirtied some up. i also like having some cars heavy weathered, but i should of gone lighter by the numbers. i would like to see how rust-all will work on my gp7, this time im not going to go craisy. just some.
