an old systems question - google didnt help me with. I have an older-newer :) Life Like F7, 'older-newer' would mean its still open frame, but with 8 wheel drive.
What does one use to get a brighter, maybe constant, headlight? (Without going to DCC that is)

Mintronics used to make a constant brightness lighting system. Don't know if it would fit without some mods though.....Mike

The above mentioned items are good, but if you want a bright light, why not put in a unltra white LED? You would have to make sure and use a resistor though as to make sure the voltage never gets above 1.3V.

I use 2mm LEDs in my EMD Bulldogs. They fit perfectly in both the upper lover headlights. The LEDs only need a 680ohm resistor and will give you directional headlights.

I run C&NW Es and Fs with a red in the top and a white in the lower position. The white shines while pulling and the red when pushing. But with Red/White Bi-Color LEDs in the upper you can simulate what many roads did running two headlights forward. Red in reverse/warning.

White LEDs come in warm white to simulate incandescent lamps used in the past and bright white that represents HID/Halogen lighting used in modern upgrades.
