This is the last catch-up thread, next thread will be periodic progress reports. By March 1, the Pueblo Yard and some mainline track have been glued into place. The exception is the car shop, which I need to build and put the rail in, then I can lay the tracks into it. Here are the specs:

    • Atlas Code 55 flex and #5 turnouts with one ME #6 for the caboose track. Circuitron Tortoises on dpdt switches with LED’s for turnout control.
    • Flex track is glued down over sheet cork with Liquid Nails for Projects. I highly recommend this product for gluing track. It’s easy to apply and smooth out, dries fairly quickly but has enough working time to make adjustments, and the track is removable without damaging the substrate if you need to, which I have to test out a couple of times.
    • There are three arrival and departure tracks, the longest is 125 inches, and there are seven classification tracks that can hold about 150 cars. Three passenger car storage tracks and couple of work and service train tracks are up at the top of the yard.
    • There are two approaches to the Walthers turntable, and the turntable will have 21 storage tracks, 15 in a roundhouse. Still thinking about how I am going build and set-up the roundhouse, whether to install the rail while I am building the structure, or build the structure, leave the roof off, and install the track after the structure is in place. And everything has to be shimmed up, since the turntable and the roundhouse appear to have been designed for code 80 track. Arghhhhh.
    • The yard and a bit of mainline past Pueblo will be one power block, controlled by a Digitrax Zephyr Xtra as command station, at least temporarily. The turntable, Pueblo, and the return track will be in another block controlled by an older Zephyr set as a booster and throttle. I am pretty sure a Super Chief 5 Amp Duplex Wireless is going end up being the command station for remainder of the main line past Pueblo and for future phases.

I have wired up the first power block and am deep in the throes of wiring up 23 Tortoises under the yard. Progress report when I get all that done, hopefully by the end of the week. In the meantime, here are some pics of the trackwork. Hope I'm not boring you and as usual, comments and questions are welcome.

Wiring 23 Tortoises? That'll keep you busy for a few minutes!
