Well this made me do some looking and comparing the SGK logo with the real UP7400 and I think the real locomotive is way off and does seem to have a purple tint to it as in this picture. It is certainly not pure pink. It is slightly more purpleish and pixelated on the model but I do not think to an extreme. IMHO Mike
Things are getting a little nasty here. Just a hobby guys. On the other side of the world and entire country is about to go bankrupt. Let's keep things in perspective.
Well, if those two photos are posted to show the two are not different in the extreme, then I suppose there's no argument that can be made. To me, they can't be more different. There's not another art/publishing department in the world that would not reject that logo as representing the Komen ribbon.
ENOUGH! Discuss the product ONLY. There will be NO more sniping at fellow posters. BoxcabE50 Administrator
Getting shots of a model inside can cause major issues on color. My dining room chandeler has daylight CFL's, so the color is "true" in that room. That is why I pulled my layout inside last night.
The general concensus is the ribbon on the model is not the same hue of pink as the Komen ribbon as we would like it to be. Most also seem to think the published prototype photo was retouched (more than likely it was). How do we know that the model does not match the prototype?????? I would like to see a photo of the prototype that is not retouched to compare to for the sake of discussion before making a fool of myself. Is this possible??? Jerry
lol, my prototype was built in 1969! As for the time limit, I am Mid-1980's and I have a U25B that was retired around 1978...it's a hobby, only person that i know of in my home town that knows that is me...who really cares if I don't? As for the color issue, I can understand the issues if it is really wrong. This does look off to me, and I think that I would be upset as well. DKS pointed out that the proceeds help find a cure for breast cancer. Yes, I would be mad that it is wrong, and proud to help the cause.
Certainly true. My date is set there, as the era is a very favorite for memories of ongoing railroading. However, I do have some rolling stock stashed away, which was acquired in 1969. And if someone ever produces an SDL39, (first built in 1969), then I'll be getting at least one of those.
I was going to limit mine to 1967, but then discovered the Indiana Railroad (my home state) and bought their modern diesels, and well, you can guess the rest...:frustrated:
Ha, yeah I saw that one....I think they should have painted it this way! And the FVM one would be painted purple, which I guess everyone would be ok with. :teeth:
Well , I spent 38 years in the telephone industy so I know I am not color blind and that one is truely PINK for sure. Gotta love Photoshop! Mike
