I'm pretty sure many other people will be interested once we all know what kind of car it is. The era and/or the type of decoration (proto or not-proto), etc. will do a lot of difference.

I've already bought the MoPac car altough i'll probably never run it. So i'm okay to support (which is what i've already done) but know i'd like to pay for something i can use (support AND run).

    Have a nice week-end.

Emphasis added here... not to be too much of a party-pooper here but the sales of the M-I car (Run 1) appear to be stalled at 233 gone and 67 left. Tell your friends indeed.

Hopefully the folks that fronted the dollars to get the M-I car done are not now sitting "under water." Not looking for a public (or private) response on this, just hopeful that this has turned out to be of benefit to TB as intended.

And please trust me when I say that the second run will almost certainly be harder to sell than the first.

Respectfully disagree here. Like you...I am guessing too. I.m thinking a more modern car with "TrainBoard" actually printed on it will sell better as it actually MEANS something to people. The MI car was/is just a 'generic' car...no special meaning (pride of ownership). YMMV.

I bought one of the MI...to support TB. If the new one being talked about is what I am thinking it will be...I will probably up the one I said I would buy...to 3 ;-)

Here's why I submit the the second run will be harder to sell-- and I would love to be wrong.

There is the novelty of a first special run being offered by a venue like TB, and the idea of supporting the board directly helps.

But when there is another special run by the same group, and (it seems) another, and another... then people can and do drop out. There's only so much disposable income to go around. That includes my disposable income.

Also, I believe that non-prototype based cars don't do as well as prototype-based ones, unless they are really 'flashy', which means harder to do and more expensive. Which causes an affordability issue, and self-selection out of the market. I've seen this happen.

Maybe there will be more interest in a more modern car than the M-I boxcar. It would be nice.

Or a strictly TB car which would mean something. I would see if there are really 300 or so people that interested (which is what this thread is about, of course). I don't think there are 300 generally active posters on this board, who are the most likely market for such a car.

As I said, I'd love to be wrong about this. Maintaining venues isn't cheap.

But I'd still focus on getting those 64 unsold M-I cars out the door before going much further on Special Run #2.

28K+ active registered members, and 236 sold. Hopefully another 64 will move.

Bought my 2 this week. Would love to see a second run car (cheesy billboard style) to Brighten up my drab yard. Big bright hopper would be nice :)

You'll have to forgive me asking since I'm just starting to get back into the conversation. What type of car is the current one that's needing to be sold and is there a pic of it?

What about an unusual railroad car. Something that would be a conversation starter.

    Maybe a snowplow like this

Maybe a Boeing car like this

I'd love the Boeing car but since there isn't enough people to get the SR#2 project started we won't see any car out:-:)-(

    Unless. ...

What ever happened to this run, by the way? It seemed to have died off..

Are the unsold MoPac cars still a problem? If so, could they maybe be placed on eBay or sold to a few hobby shops that could move them? It it seems like they're not selling on the forum we could always try to sell them somewhere else. Obviously they're not benefiting the forum by just sitting there!

Second, it sounds like the special run car was never decided on? I know the first run had trouble deciding on Era, which I believe was also a hot topic here. My vote would be for modern, but that's just me ;)

Whatever it is, I'd love to buy at least two. I bought the MoPac car even though it's not really my era and treasure it anyways! (although I'm trying to work it into one of my ops sessions).

If it were my choice, I'd like to see a really interesting car.. someone mentioned the Boeing car, which would be cool, but my vote would be one of those super cool windmill trains.
If we could make a few different types: blades, spinners, housings, poles and then people could choose to just buy a blade car, or buy a full set, or two! Maybe it'd help them move. Or just pick a specific car to keep run cost down.
They are really cool trains, though, and they've made appearances on almost every railroad. Even Wisconsin and Southern has had several of the trains pass through.
It would be a pretty expensive run, however...

Not a problem at all as I am sure that over time the last 45 will sell out. We still get orders from time-to-time.

The #2 run is still brewing and when we get this up to 150 we will get it going!

Is the count really at 102, Charlie? That means it's bee sitting around 100 for about a year.... I think we need a better teaser to either get to 150, or put it out of out minds. If it says Trainboard, I'm in for a second car.

Could we have a reminder about what is being considered for the second N-scale special run? I recall that no details were ever given, but without looking through this whole thread, I can't remember what was being discussed.

BTW, I bought the first one and really like it.

Just a thought here. Bowser sold out of PRR circle keystone H21's in four days. Why not d a limited run of a couple new road numbers? PRR modelers should snap up one of each. Not terribly creative, but it might generate some revenue.

I'll buy whatever you do for a second run as long as it has roofwalks, friction bearings, and is appropriate for a layout set in 1949. Make it a two pack and I'll buy that too. By MTL's special run rules, you'd only have to buy 150 two packs. A guy willing to spend 25 bucks on a box car probably won't blink at spending 55 on a pair.
