I finally got the crossing in so all the industries at the rear of the layout can now be served.

All freightcar spots filled to show location, several of them will not be in constant use.

Now I need to get the last 3 turnouts so I can finish off the front of the main level.

A quick transformation with a little bit of muck. uploadfromtaptalk1386532609097.jpg

But as I just noticed I not painted the track I better go do that before I add any more!

Starting to look good. With the background painted and a little scenery, I bet you have a little incentive to move forward.

I have started a web site on the South Lewistown, it is still in early works but has some extra info on there.

Nice photo of Summit, Montana. These days it looks rather barren, without the depot trackside.

Not updated this topic for a while so I guess I should say what I have been up to.

I have been busy with my main street, buildings are in their places now with some cardboard mockups for the ones still to be built.

The road is down but I need to add side walks.

The backdrop needs painting blue until I decide how it will look.

One more shop, not sure what yet and on the side of the department store a small apartment building in the corner.

The climb is hidden behind the main street and goes to another industrial area in Lewistown

I will have full lighting along the main street with all buildings lit.

Card mockups are a great way to test size, shape, etc. of structures. Looking better already. Will see it in the flesh in a week's time :)

Looking good. It does take a bit of time trying to get everything to fit and look right. I thought I had everything down for my expansion project and then I came across a kit and everything changed, for the better. Can't wait to see the finished town.

It has been a while since I updated the progress of my layout, mainly as there has been none!

I have finalised the trackage on the upper shelf.

I had 2 extra industries up there originally but after operating for a bit took them out and realigned the track.

Only 2 or 3 freightcars at a time will arrive here from the main part of the layout and represents another small industrial zone in Lewistown.

I guess some progress is better than no progress. I think I am in the same boat. I haven't see the inside of my train room for weeks. Too busy with too many projects. It is looking good. Waiting for more pictures of the progress. If you're like me, it will probably be a while.

Is the result of this change now just one industry? Or is there something else where that BN box car is set out?

Originally the cement plant was where the blue building is, the blue one was where the cement plant is now, there was also another siding at the front of the layout where the head shunt is, the head shunt was in the middle, there was also another siding facing into the corner the other end. Removing these tracks have made a big difference

I have found these photos that show how it was laid out originally, as you can see it was very cramped.

I'm sure this question has been asked, but what's the grade of the approach to the upper track?

Not sure Matt has measured it, but it is extremely steep! No problem hauling the short trains which will go up though. The apparent steepness of the grade will be disguised as much as possible by backdrops and scenery.
