Got ahold of Matt. We talked for a bit. I think we got things mutually worked out. Bottom line...he is going to send a new mech...after he tests it. I will send this one back to him so he can examine the problem. I explained that I didnt feel the motor brush caps should turn like these do...they should be more solid in the motor...hmmmm. I mostly posted here to see if anyone else was having the same problem. Seems I am the only one. BTW...FWIW...Matt said he has seen this before...but mostly during shipping. I told him I musta got 2 that fell thru the cracks ! Here's hoping 3rd times charm ;-)
Really glad you worked it out. And I've never heard of anything like that. I can see how it MIGHT happen, but I've never seen it or for that matter heard of it. Matt WILL take care of you. He's as responsive as anyone I've had dealings with.
Great news George! I'm sure you will be happy with this mech. I know they are not perfect, but no manufacturer goes without problems.
Having never dealt with Matt before...I can only go by what others say. Maybe the 2 mechs I got where both anomalies. If there is a real problem with the brush caps...I feel better knowing Matt will find out now rather then later. I'm sure he wont call and let me know either way...and thats ok. Like I said...hopefully 3rd time is charm with the new mech
