Heres a couple picks of the new KATO N scale Dennys restuarant. The front view From the rear The detail on this building is awesome. Can't say much for the parking lot though so that will have to go. Now that I have the restuarant the fun begins for building the parking lot(once I figure out where to put it ) and landscaping it. Oh yeah, and a wee bit of weathering . (ps) it does come apart so you can light the interior.
Looks nice! I also take issue with that parking lot, doesn't look like any american parking lot I've ever seen... especially for someplace that would likely be on the outer edges of a strip mall or in the wide open main drag of a town. Maybe I'll put one of these on a oNeTrak module.
Weathering and a few more details like a dozen newspaper vending machines; a grease pit and dumpster in back; a phone booth in the parking lot; a car with the hood up and a smoke generator in the engine compartment; a pan-handler between the parking lot and the front door; a bunch of staff smoking at the back door; and maybe a working girl on the sidewalk in front...
Remember to put that smoking car in the line to the "Drive-In" window, and a Garbage truck out back blocking the exit! I notice eBay has the vending machines, truck and a bunch of new cars on this week some listed in the HO section, so may NOT show in the N section. Jan and I ate at Denny's today at noon here! We only waited 20 minutes, so they were fast today! (We are the ones in the Hawiian Orchid Chevrolet Cavalier.) OOps, left myself wide open on that one guys! (Watch him leave the hood open on OUR car!) Just my luck!
Actually Jon it is a model of a Japanese Denny's that was designed to look like an American Denny's. By the way there are three Denny's in the Grand Rapids area ,all three look different but this one is a dead ringer for one of them.
Forgive my lack of knowledge on these Kato buildings but these are preassembled, am I correct? It looks real nice, especially the shrubbery around it! P.S. don't forget the oil stains in the parking lot Russ
Yeah Russ, they are pre-assembled.What you see is what came out of the box. It comes apart by removing two small phillips screws. I will light the very nice interior and add at least a dozen customers. Will also do a little paint detailing with some light weathering, and set it on the layout where it can be seen.
I saw one of these offered on ebay, and wondered whether I should buy it. It looks like a good model, so may look out for one. What is the regular price on these?
Alan, this is the one from Ebay. With shipping I paid 15 cents over list price for it.Had it in 4 days. Robin, noty sure where its going yet,but it will be right up front.
Ooops! I am sorry for that last question. I looked closer at the picture on top and indeed, there is a detailed interior!!!!! My eyes did not pick that up the first time. As my kids say..AWESOME! Russ
