Hello all: I was wondering if anyone has the John Deere and or Case--International Harvester--train sets. Not to brag, but I have one of each and wondering is anyone else has these on their layouts. thank you jaijef ------------------ "The light at the end of the tunnel may be a freight train headed your way"--Metallica--ONE LEAF CLOVER--Symphony & Metallica CD
They make a train set for IH? I've seen the John Deere train set but not the IH. I have two Farmall Cubs...do you have a pic of your train set? Where did you get it? I haven't gotten the John Deere, but do collect different sets - Hershey's, Toy Story, etc...along with regular passenger sets and engines. Thanx Guy(NH)

I have 2 of the John Deere sets. The 1997 set has F7, tank car, 40' box car, 40' flat car with 2 JD tractors and caboose. The 1999 set has a GP38-2, covered hopper, container car with container, 89' flat with combine and tractor, caboose all painted JD green & yellow. I saw the 1998 set at a local NMRA meet and kicked myself in the rear on the way home because I didn't buy it. Idon't know if they have one this year. The sets are made by Athearn. Today I was in a Harley- Davidson shop and they had a H-D set. It didn't have a brand name on it but had a GE 8-40B, 3 cars & caboose. I assume it was made by Walthers?? ------------------ QFAN
WellI would like to thank everyone for the responses. I am sorry I do not have pix of the sets. The new 2000 John Deere set has a F45 Diesel, a 50 ft boxcar, a 40 ft flatcar w/ 2 4010 tractors, a 3 dome tank car and a cupola caboose. Both the JD & IH sets are Athearn. the place to buy the IH set & the JD set is at BinkleyHurst Tractors. They are based out of PA and that is where I got the Case set, great service. here is a site address: http://www.binkleyhurst.com enter, click on toys then the trains section. and when ordering ask for Adam, he is the one over the trains & collectibles. The sets mainly contains a loco, caboose, boxcar, a flatcar (maybe) and/or tank car and or ACF 54' hopper. usually 4 cars plus a caboose. i was just wondering do you use the sets you have or do you keep them as collectables? ------------------ Matthew wheres all the C636's???? stickymonk.com Matts Photo gallery TrainBoard member #257
Thanx for the website on the tractor train sets...those are great! As for the question on using the sets, for my sets that I have, I keep them on a series of shelves in my train room...I take them down and run them on the layout every so often to keep them running...
I have also seen the sets for sale on eBay.com ------------------ Smile! It makes people wonder what you are up to. Bry's Photopoint.com Album
I run the JD & Case-IH sets regularly. I love the 85 ft flat from the 1999 series. it has a combine & a tractor. I got the Case IH set in Oct and have ran it regularly
Oh yea, a friend of mine has both the Case and the John Deer sets and runs them... oh, hey Jai. How's the private covered hopper car coming along?
