    Hi all,

I just got back in the US mid last week from spending an unexpected month at one of our facilities filling in for a co-worker that had a horrific family tragedy. Sometimes we have to do things in life that we do not want to, but do them because they are the right thing to do. This was one of those times and I hope you will not think ill of me or TrainCat. I have close to 2,000 emails to get through and I will get to all orders as soon as possible.

Thanks for all of the concerns.

Not enough of that in the world anymore...
Glad you are ok, and prayers sent for your co-workers family...
    Respectfully,

    Hello Group,
I was just at the Traincat Models website wanting to make a few purchases and it appears the website is still on but you cannot buy from it anymore. Does anyone know if the business is still going or has it been shut down? Bob produced super etched brass kits that had great detail on them.

When I click on the store button, a pop up says the "Store site is unavailable due to maintenance". I would take that at face value, unless someone has more definitive information

I think Bob said he was running from drug lords in mexico while MacGyver-ing a couple of C130s into service.

    You never know with Bob.

I tried emailing him a couple of weeks ago but no reply so far, seems a strange way to operate a business.

His job has him running from one end of the globe to the other lately. Must be fun when your skills are in such high demand. I guess you just have to be patient. His products are well worth it to most folks. Thanks Daniel for that image you have just etched in my mind about Bob. Very appropriate. ;)

Last post here September 9; last post on Railwire September 18.

Draw your own conclusions, but I have no reason to think badly of him...

Well where ever he maybe let's hope he's out of harms way. And as stated above his products are well worth the wait.

Back on August 29 this year there was a small thread on this same thing. The operation is a one man show, run part time, which does produce a very good line of products. The gentleman has a regular 9 to 5 which pays the bills, health, and retirement plan. In fact from what I understand of his occupation it probably at times turns out to be a 12 to 12 and sends him to places that most of us would rather not be on a good day. When he is able to, sometimes because of location he isn't for awhile, he does eventually reply to E-mails and when he gets home he does get production runs out and orders filled. Then it is off again to parts unknown. I have some stuff that I ordered a long time ago from him and it took about five weeks to get it. But the bottom line is I got the order and was happy with it. One just has to have patience. This isn't the big fellas that I occasionally order from up around Baltimore with a big warehouse and staff and I usually have my order in a week, but like I said a one man show run on a part time basis.

Sorry to beat this particular dead horse but....

I ordered and paid via Paypal for several items ~ $100 worth.

at this point i have one email confirming the purchase.
a second email several weeks later apologizing for being out of country and that he would 'get to my order soon'

at this point its over 4 months and i have heard NOTHING. I have sent two subsequent emails 'begging' for an update.

My last email was an ask for which path we needed to go down to resolve what I see as an impass.

I have read the other blog threads on this being his Not Full Time Job. OK get it but ALSO, really do not get the lack of being able to keep up with his business email or being able to provide some customer feedback.

You did read the part about him being in a part of the world where he CANNOT email....didn't you?

If not, he is in a part of the world where he CANNOT email you back.

And since my initial Order in June he has been spotted at at least one or more train shows (taking even MORE orders?). Yet cannot find the time to respond to those of us who HAVE an order ON BOOK. Or to update us with new delivery dates?

Again, I reiterate, I am using this public forum since I cannot get a response from this "business". Yes I acknowledge that he has been in and out of country. And that during that time he may not have consistent access or ANY access to email.

I am asking, nay pleading to anyone here that has access to this business or its associates; please encourage them to attend to their customers. Too bad to because I was going to order many more items from them.

Regardless, he has been spotted In Country over the last four months but PAID IN FULL customers are left waiting for an answer: product shipped or an email with expected ship date.

Which is a problem for us. Please contact the business and don't involve TrainBoard.

    Thanks,
