I said I'd vote for 'as delivered,' and E-8 responded 'we need pictures'... The as delivered is more or less one of the photos you cited when you announced it would be an M-I car: http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1895233 The principal difference between the 1960s and the 1970s version would be the reporting marks. Morning Sun's MP Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, Page 46, has a shot of MI 250503, in the series 250350 to 250547, which was previously MI 96500 to 96749. I'm 99% sure that MTL has this book in their library.
Do we have an ETA when we will get a chance to see an image of the final product? It might generate more orders from those sitting on the fence...
I just put in order number 2. I would really like 3 for some strange reason. If I can get together just a little more before they are all sold I will get my third. Still don't know what I am going to do with these as I have no layout and no static display. But I have to get a third and I don't know why!
Thanks everyone for the orders. I'm battling a touch of the flu but we'll have more info for you soon. Charlie Sent from my Motorola Electrify using Tapatalk 2
Great question Darren. We will have artwork as soon as Micro-Trains produces it for us. The ball has been in our court and we are sending the money in tomorrow. This project is now a 100% go. As you can see, we are at 118, meaning that 182 cars remain available. We expect to sell a number more when people outside TrainBoard find out about this and the artwork is made available. Please promote this run to people that you know. I don't mean to post stuff on other sites if it is not wanted there, but if you know people that might be interested, please let them know. More information willl always be forthcoming until such time that these orders are delivered. Orders continue to trickle in and we will keep that number updated as orders come in. Thanks folks! Charlie
That's excellent news! Can you add a bit more description to the ordering page, so that the people we direct to it don't have to wade through this whole thread to figure out what they're ordering? I realize there's no model photography (yet), but pictures of the prototype car and a description of when/where it was used (similar to what's already been disclosed in this thread) would be helpful.
Yes, they will announce it. As well, the ability to order will be provided to other regular receivers of such information. This will result in more orders. We did send in the money today. Charlie
Here's the latest update folks: As you can see at the top of the page (at the time I am posting this) the order count is 120. What has happened is that we have fully committed to this project, and we have made payment to Micro-Trains to get this going. They will be doing up the kind of artwork that you folks are used to seeing from them and we will post it here and on www.specialruns.com as soon as it is available. We really want to get the order count up and lately we have been averaging one or two orders per day. We need that to continue! If we get one order per day from now through Christmas, we would be in really good shape! So, please continue to tell people about this project. From this point forward, we will wait to hear from Micro-Trains and continue to take orders. We will update you all along as news is available. Thanks again folks for being a part of this and placing an order. It's all good.
Generally, MTL will put Special Runs on their website as part of the overall process. Some request that their special runs not be advertised.
Charlie, better late than never. :happy:I just ordered mine 2 minutes ago. Looking forward to it. See ya Ron AKA: Switchman
We just received an e-mail from MT. They have received our money. We now wait for artwork to show you and on we go...
