I had never heard of it before Charlie made the suggestion amongst the staff as to a possibility for a special run car. And the photos showing them from California to New Jersey so they made it around.

    Hi All,

That will be a new road name for my layout. [IMG]

Glad I pulled the trigger on it. [IMG]

    Does this need UP licensing?

Oh goodness! Lets hope not! They already ruined enough of it with their lawsuit.

UP owns the rights to their predecessor railroads logos and reporting marks, therefore all UP and any roads that were merged into UP need to be licensed.

I would think that with MT being the production company, they would already have the licensing papers in place with UP. Some of the rolling stock they make is UP.

OK, I'm in. Interesting scheme, obscure reporting marks and a photo of one in Oregon sold me.

It will be like the links I posted above of the cushion car. However, that photo that you posted on the Vancouver website is awesome! In the future, if 300 people want to get together on that one, I'm in. I really like that picure.

If anyone else has more MI photos, please respond.

    There is this link:

There are some good photos on there of RS3s and a nice looking caboose... maybe future special runs? I'm actually really digging this obscure road add New Hampshire to the list of states this car will be seen in... even if only in N scale.

Well I ordered this with mixed emotions, I should have known better. This is awesome and I am sure it will look great on my layout. I would like to get some short lines like Iowa Chicago & Eastern, Dakota Minnesota & Eastern and any others I have seen in the area. That would limit me to almost nothing. Now I just need to see if I can come up with funds for 1 or 2 additional.

U.P. Drops Model Train Royalty Fees

The short answer is YES, and as stated in other posts Micro Trains has it covered. The good thing is that they DO NOT have to pay a royalty.

In November 2006 The Union Pacific canceled its policy to charge model railroad manufacturers royalty fees. Model makers are now allowed a perpetual license to use U.P.’s trademarks and paint designs.

Here is a link for more info on UP's policy change
