This is in response to a thread on another messageboard that refuses to give me a membership. Since most of the participants over there are also over here, I figured this would be just as good a place to respond. If anyone reading this is also on that other forum, feel free to forward it them. The following is straight from the horses' mouth and should be reasonably accurate, seeing as I am one of the horses.

As some of you may know, Intermountain/Centralia car shops is putting out HO & N scale ex-UP CA-4 cabooses lettered for PLE #530 & 533. The P&LE Historical Society (PLERRHS) has also commissioned a special run of the same caboose lettered for Montour #38 and a decorated/unlettered caboose with decals included for other Montour versions as well as PC&Y & Y&S hacks.

As of right now, the HO cabooses are at Intermountain and we are waiting for delivery to the PLERRHS. We are poised for immediate shipping to customers when they arrive at any moment.

The N scale cabooses have been delayed until December 2012. The delay, as far as I know, is due entirely to scheduling at the factory in China where the cars are assembled and painted.

The decals for both HO & N undecorated cabeese are currently in stock and waiting to be inserted into the caboose packages when we get them. They are also available seperately for $3.50 each (postpaid, plus tax if applicable). As an extra, the decal sets also include lettering for Montour & Y&S deisels, because afterall, what good is a caboose without the motive power.

See www.plerrhs.org for more information, though the website has not yet been updated to include this new information.

    Hope this helps. Cheers.

Those look great. When I worked for the Ohio Central and would run to Youngstown Steel Door, there was one of those cabooses inside the building owned by Porter Collins, a Engineer with the OC. It was still green, but needed some work. Dont know what happened to it after I left there and I know Mr. Collins past away from a long battle with cancer.

Yeah, that's me. I was also with the 51st HD & 28th US. That was a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. Who were you with?

About 10 years ago I photographed one at Brier Hill that was painted red. I assumed it belonged to the OC. Don't know whatever happened to that one. There is currently one sitting in Castriota Scrap Co. in McKees Rocks. They seem to be using it as a storage shed, but it looks all there on the trucks. It is an ex-Y&S with the chopped cupola, but I don't know which one. I need to get permission to get into it for photos.

    Yah; another life time,eh?
I'm one of the Buffalo area folks that was in 2Pz. for a short while.
Then I formed 3 Commando with a bunch of people from up here.
I remember 51st.-ran into Rich Baer on a wargames forum a couple years back.
Funny how much overlap there is...
I've been in N scale on & off since I was a kid; back when it came out in the US.
I'm in an N-Trak based club, and just starting a home layout.
Mostly based on BR&P, Pennsy, and P&S, pre 1930's.
"Home" roads for me; my family was all from Punxsy to Ridgway area.
    Best to ya,
    Jim R.
