Another weekend is behind us, how did you do?

Despite having a busy weekend, I did well on the modeling and prototype front. This was the first weekend since I got home that Angela and I could spend some alone time so I was able to enjoy my time with her as well as have some train time. Saturday, I spent some time on my T-Trak module by working on the building as well as the interior parts. Layout work continued in the form of roadwork. With my main roadbed for the road done, I started cutting, glueing and sanding the styrene road top. Not as much progress as what I wanted but progress is good. Saturday afternoon, I made reservations for my favorite steak house and took Angela up to Oregon IL. This had been the first time in well over five years since I had been up that way. We stopped in Rochelle, then took IL 64 into Oregon. A stop in Oregon would not be complete without stopping and seeing the awesome CB&Q Station.

The station is in much better shape than when I first saw it in 1998. The station is being restored and looks beautiful. Someday I will scratch build this awesome structure. While we were admiring the structure, one of many BNSF trains roared past on the adjacent C&I main line.

We saw a few trains and I think Angela did ok on her first trip railfaning. She had plenty of questions. The speaker I hooked up and mounted to the windshield frame worked great as we could hear the scanner from outside of the Jeep, although Angela was content to sit barefoot in the Jeep and relax. We then went and had a great steak and a long ride home. Sunday was busy but more work on the layout, although nothing worth updating in my build thread.

So how about you? Did you get some track laid? Bench work built? Modules ready for shows? Perhaps like me you were inspired by the prototype? What ever you did, post it below along with any pictures you may have. We'll come back on Friday, June 8th and do it all over again. Until then...

I did pretty much what I'd planned to do, which wasn't too ambitious. I got the scenic work done along the canal, adding ground foam and two different colors of field grass. This covers up some unsightly edges and hides the foundations of the mill buildings.

A couple of weeks back, I painted the roof piece of the Drosophila and Melanogaster Wholesale Fruit warehouse. I remember taking out out of my workroom, and I've been looking for it ever since. It bothers me, but I finally wrote it off as lost-until-I-make-another-one, at which point it will re-appear. Hey, it's a piece of foamboard, and the whole process took 5 minutes, far less time than I've already wasted looking for the original.

I did some work on both the Last Chance Mission and the house of ill repute. The latter is a Bachmann bicycle shop building. I noticed that the brick work was already molded in an acceptable color, so I skipped painting it and went right to mortaring. That went easily, and by the end of the weekend I had decal signs on the side walls. It's going to be a damp week here in New England, so I hope to get some additional time on these projects after work each day.

I was able to get the ballasting done on one of my N-Trak modules. While waiting for the glue to dry I began taking down a wall in my home between the kitchen and dinning room (non load bearing).

been waiting for this for a while. I picked up a new car at the show yesterday and a load to go with it. A Project blogged over in my trainblog section but overall I'm happy with this car and it's load:

Oh and the load itself. This one is a well built load. I'm happy with it:
