Hi all, Trainworx just announced some new releases. D&RGW 85 foot flatcars, D&RGW trailers, RG Motorway trailers, City Market trailers, and Coors trailers. Yahooooooooo!!!!!!!
Yes they are wonderful releases and will add greatly to the N-Scale world. One prominent N-Scale modeler is in for the whole fleet and extras of some. Deb & I have been lucky enough to experience his layout twice.
These cars made it into MOW duty and the most recent photo I found was from 2010. I'll be ordering one for my MOW train. I always thought it would be cool for a manufacture to specialize in one RR, even if only for one month. I was wrong... my wallet is showing me this black, not green, hole. Now excepting D&RGW "wood packer" donations.
Check out the Trainworx website. Pat has posted the eras for each one there. As for the 1980's, the City Market, RG Motorways, and Action Railroad trailers were still around then. I don't remember seeing the other D&RGW trailers for sure and the Coors is a unknown to me. Just a side note, the City Market trailers and others were usually put on the #95 train behind an empty caboose, with the rear-end crew in a trailing caboose, which were cut off in GJ. The new crew would get on the front caboose, the #95 would whistle off, and the GJ trailers would be moved to the unloading ramp. Not too many pictures of this train exist as it was a night train.

Tell me more about the "City Market" trailer... I've never heard of this. Was this something one would find in the western states in the 1950's to 1970?
I am going to order 3 or 4 of these trailers if I can determine which were most likely in the early 1960s. The flatcars have a build date of 1959. I take it these are in the original scheme? I am slowly building up a mostly 1960s era TOFC collection, and Trainworx has been helping this along.
Hi all, City Market is a Kroeger owned grocery chain. Most of the stores are on the Colorado western slope with a few exceptions. I really doubt any CM trailers would have gone past Grand Junction. They are mostly associated with King Soopers on the Colorado front range these days. The D&RGW flats are in the original scheme. Many were used in company service or other uses when 40 foot trailers gave way to longer ones. I will defer to others about time frames for the trailers.
Hmmm... looks like as an afficionado of the D&RGW I'll have to get some of these CM trailers and flatcars. I've already pre-ordered the other trailers except for the 'Rio Grande Rail - Road' which might be more of a 1970's and later version. An SP 85' flat carries the first two; I can't make out the road name of the second flat, but it might be Rio Grande. City Market is all over Colorado & Utah. Mostly smaller cities. It is part of the Kroger chain. Still in existence and I have my value card still from when I lived in Alamosa.

When did piggy-back trailers get the alpha-numeric identification system... such as PFCX48294 and the color-coded bar code? It seems as though it might be a late 1960's innovation. Now that Bryan posted photo showing there were D&RGW trailers with the side door... I wonder if we might have a future release of that style of trailer with that Rio Grande lettering from Trainworx?
