I was at Caboose Hobbies today and happened to notice on the bottom shelf of the display cabinet about 5 or 6 BNSF Dash 9s that i didn't remember seeing... Took a closer look, and sure enough, from the first run. I looked at the tag and was disgusted. $175?!?! You have to be kidding me... Anyone who's in this hobby to make a profit like that is pretty low...
I just called Caboose Hobbies and the engines in question are consigned. The price was set by the owner of the engines and Caboose had nothing to do with pricing. If you go to their website and look under HO Kato engines in the shopping cart section, you will see the new release, and down at the bottom are the consigned in question. One of the columns has in stock or consign in it and that is how you tell. Dale
Heck, you'd be amazed, I've seen guys pay more than $175 for Kato ATSF/BNSF C44-9W's on eBay. I guess it's all about supply and demand, and how much a person is willing to shell out for one. Paul #3 ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
I was aware those models were consigned... I was just disgusted that someone would be out to make that much of a profit on someone...
Talk about your Shark infested waters! I thought us N-Scalers had it tough. I hate it when we see a Micro-Trains Car that some joker is selling for One Hundred Zillion Dollors because "it's never been run and it's in the box." Give me a break! This is one of two things that bug me about this hobby and it goes hand in hand with the first...LIMITED RUNS! ------------------ Brent Tidaback, Member #234 BNSF Railfan-to-the Max and a N-Scaler to boot!
