    Hey everyone.

Value of a Brand new in box Fox Valley N scale Hiawatha?

I see these are SOLD OUT most everywhere. none on eBay.

what's a good price to pay for a private party selling one that is supposed to be Brand new in box?
also has the two extra passenger cars.

    thx,
    Koz

About $300. Though, market will dictate price. The last several I have seen have went for around 260-290 plus shipping. Add in 2 extra cars, I'd probably pay close to 300. However if none show up on ebay for a while, you may end up paying a premium when the next one shows up.

One online seller (which is sold out) had the set for $300 and the extra cars at $31.49 each. I imagine other street prices would have been comparable.

I had tagged a few sets on eBay a couple of months ago and the final price was about the same, more or less. I had thought about buying a set and decided it would be better to let someone who really wants it have a go instead...

since they are sold out most everywhere and none on eBay. I'm thinking they might now going up, up, up in value.

Very possible. Although present economics will surely dictate some of any upward price swing. Only time will tell us the tale.

I suppose it's up to you, what it's worth. While the only thing that kept me from buying it at the time was a pledge to not buy any more engines until the layout's done. However, I wouldn't consider it at 450, or even 400. But I'm not a Milwaukee modeler, but it was so darn beautiful and the price was right. $600? Well that's someone hoping that someone HAS to have one right now. I've seen one of my C&O MT coal cars listed for $200 dollars. It's rare, but in that case they are just trying to bet on a collector who HAS to have it.

The place I was going to buy it through had the set for $276, with the cars at $20 each (if I recall).

Back on Feb 4th at the train show at Timonium I saw one in the original box and it was priced at $300 there. I believe the set also included the extra cars at that price.
