Hi all, If a manufacturer built these in n-scale, would you buy any, and how many? Here are some photos (HO): http://www.railyardmodels.com/catalog/northamericanpd3000.html Thanks.
In kit form I might buy one or two... In RTR I might get as many as 3 or 4. I might even get an HO kit to build up... It's an interesting car. Not one I've seen before. Either way it would none an impulse buy and subject to squeezing into the budget somewhere.
At $46.95 a copy I'd be in for 1/4th of one? Seriously, If the N scale version turns out to be way cheaper then I'd be in for 3 or 4. Brian
Sorry... but none. Its an interesting car but out of my 1950 to 1969 era. About 5 years ago I may have considered one of them for a modern train... but not in my current situation where I'm sticking to the era I model.
Might be into one or 2, the Kellogg cars would be cool. Would want like 3 or 4 of those, used to see them in Omaha back in the day
I would be in for 4-5 at a price representative of the technologies used versus the comparable market. (so if they were $25-30 MSRP they should be comparable to BLMA's 4000, at $15 MSRP something like the Trainman 3560. In between would be tradeoffs like etched metal versus body mount couplers versus metal wheels somewhere in the $15-25 range.)
They are interesting and attractive. I would get 3ish if they were under $20 in built up form. I might get one if they were $25 and I had "excess disposable income". Recently I have had to pass several beautiful releases.
You can have it cheap or you can have it right - or wait a couple years until you can score them on the bay...
They look nice, but I might have an era conflict issue. And, also, with so many delayed releases of things recently, it might be an impossibly long wait for a completely new car design like this, in N scale.
If they were done with a good amount of detail, such as the BLMA releases I'd be willing to pick up 5 or 6. If they were done with detail similar to the Atlas Trainman releases I would probably pass. When it comes to detail I'm willing to buy fewer cars with higher detail for more money, than more cars with less detail for less money.
