I was able to get to Papa Ben’s Train Place and G&G Models in Houston on my 2 ½ day Christmas vacation and got some
    PAINT AND DECALLING SUPPLIES

Testor’s Plastic-Prep- removes grease, mold release, etc.
Testor’s ELO Easy List Off Paint & Decal Remover
Tamiya masking tape (for green-white-orange TexMex Express)
Microscale Micro Sol (softens decals to conform & to remove decals)
Microscale Micro Set (softens decals to conform)
Microscale Liquid Decal Film (restore old decals, make custom decals)

I did not find the Atlas KCS or NdeM boxcars that were on my wish list, but I picked up a couple of old items from the “consignment and old stuff” array at Papa Ben’s. One was an old Roco #28903 boxcar, SLSF “FRISCO” #126876, a single-sheathed wood-side Howe truss outside-braced car built to the ARA “alternate-standard” which was developed in the early 1920s. My 1954 Official Railway Equipment Register shows Frisco had number series 126000-126999, 40-foot “steel underframe” boxcars (a description which fits the single-sheathed construction). However only three cars were left in revenue service in 1954, so this car existed in my layout’s circa-1957 timeframe but it was not typical. I will want to weather it to look well-used but still serviceable. I am trying to get freight cars to represent all the trunk line railroads that ran in Texas during the 1950s, and I didn’t think I had a Frisco car.

[After checking my roster, I find this is my first Frisco boxcar, but I have 2 Frisco gondolas. I now have most of the Texas trunk lines represented: Santa Fe, Burlington (and affiliates FW&D and C&S), Rock Island, Missouri-Kansas-Texas, Missouri Pacific (and affiliates IGN and StLB&M), Southern Pacific (and affiliate T&NO-gondola), Texas & Pacific (gondola). I am lacking anything from Kansas City Southern or Cotton Belt (SLSW).

It has been at least a year since I’ve purchased any new rolling stock and years plural since any new loco purchase.

I recently bought a Blair Line “Yard Café” kit and I’m buying a lot of detail stuff. Last big purchase was $100s worth of Showcase Miniatures product.

I don’t post pics anymore as my 3rd digital camera in the past eight years crapped out, as did the other two, and I’m not going to throw good money after bad by buying another one.

When I spend more than a hundred dollars for something I expect it to last more than three years unless I drop the thing.

You are buying the wrong cameras. I have had my Nikon Coolpix l22 for about 7 years and does everything I need. You could find re-ferbished on the net for around $50.00.
    IMHO

A couple of weeks ago I ordered a Bachmann RS3 and a Bachmann NW2. The NW2 will be delivered tomorrow, if UPS can get their trucks out of their garages.

Just bought home a used Atlas SD35 Southern Pacific, DCC equipped at a great low price. Already loving this guy. On conductor side, theres a broken rail. Is there a simple fix beside glueing/CAing it together?

Well all the cameras I bought were $150 or more and they were all name brand top of their line within their cost/feature bracket so I don’t know what all else I can do.

A Bachmann ASTF Alco S4 (which I repainted as Lehigh Valley 167) and an Atlas C420 decorated in the Delaware Lackawanna shortline paint. Really nice engines, both of them.

N scale has come so far since the mid-90's when I started.

My first digital camera, a Canon Digital Rebel (300D) purchased in Sept 2003 is still alive and kicking after 25k shots. I just gave it to my youngest son as a Christmas gift so we'll see how long it lasts. I have a nephew who has very bad "luck" with electronics. It's almost mandatory for him to buy the service plan/insurance. The best story was the day he finally got an iPhone...his graduation day and he dropped it in the toilet within 5 hours of getting it. Dead.

My latest purchase was actually a birthday present...a very lightly used Canon 1D2N. Built like a tank, 8mp and shoots 8.5 frames/second. It's for shooting my sons' sports.

They have already done that and you are lucky to have one or have found one. Same trestle as the Heljen one.

My newest, just Bought it Now.

K5 Railway gun "Leopold" German Wehrmacht Military Grey Krupp 28-cm-Kanone N NEW
    [IMG]

Another unusual piece to my collection!
Now, I gotta TRY and locate more information on this thing! Including
what steam power may have been used. Not sure if the diesel power I've
seen referenced is available in any form.

Those railway guns are impressive for sure! A little checking around showed that the WR360C14 was the usual diesel locomotive, and that a model is produced by Fleischman. Good luck, as the price I saw (English pounds) would translate to over $200. But geez the attention that would get at shows...
