I just totally love how paint cost has now gone further thru the roof - I mean $5 to $7 for them little bottles. And then dont you just love how, on several bottles, the inside of the cap gets all crapped up, and seems to deteriorate, then next, while you shake the paint, it leaks out all over your fingers. . . - I have taken to saving any good caps, from used up bottles, and these come in handy to replace on those other bad bottles.
I have also used a piece of plastic bag under the bad lid, to avoid spills while shaking, but having any extra caps is the best.
I recently ended my having the non-water based, as I got tired of the smell, and the many times you opened a bottle, only to find that either it was solidified, endlessly separated, lost so much of the thinner part that it was now painting on real thick, and a half a dozen other weird things.

    Good tips there.

I started using pieces of plastic bags also inorder to keep a tight seal.

But I began to apply teflon tape around the threads of the bottle– that seems to work very well.

Yes it is crazy how high these paints have become. A recent order sent my wallet screaming for the hills. Your on the right track, a couple of suggestions I have told in countless seminars. Polly Scale really works best if stirred. I know its a pain, but the Polly Scale acrylics just don't mix well unless stirred and if you are airbrushing, those foam bubbles can actually transfer to the paint job. If your just brush painting something like track, like I'm doing today, then shake away, but for airbrush, yeah stir. Second, the plastic thing, yes by all means. To ad to that, after I am done with the PS, I wipe the top clean with a paper towel then ad plastic bag material, screw on cap and store upside down. Since I store my paints in a drawer, it not only helps keep the paint top fresh, but I can see the color easier than all those black caps.

Hope that helps fellow Q modeler!
