Hello all... I'm a little 'miffed'... Has anyone here had any issues with the Microtrains BX express trucks after converting the wheelsets from the ridiculous 'pizza cutters' to their low profile wheelsets? with the low profile wheels, the bottom of the 'elongated U' sideframe rubs along the top of the rail... any suggestions of a remedy? Would a 'larger' wheel work ?(I need to maintain low profile wheelsets on my code 55 rails) Bruce
Bruce, That seems odd, as the riding height of the truck depends only on the diameter of the wheel. And I checked ist - MT low-pro Wheeler have the same diameter as their old-style wheels. Which leaves me really wondering.... Have Fun Michael
I just converted my Athearn 40' Pfaudler milk car to BX express trucks wo couplers. Also replaced plastics wheels with FVM metal wheel sets. Haven't had a problem.
I've noticed the same thing. I haven't fixed mine yet, but I would try the new 33" or 36" "standard" wheel sets from MT. The flange on those is suppose to be C55 friendly.
Thanks for the replies..I will have to change wheelsets...even with the regular MTL 'pizza cutters' one can see the VERY close tolerance above the railhead...obviously, there is a slight difference in size btweeen thos wheels and the MTL low profile ones...just enough to lower the truck enough to contact the railhead...I'll probably get some of the FVM sets to try them out...i've never used them and am curious about them anyway...doesn't BLMA make some as well?
