I'm sorry if this isn't the proper place for this thread. Here's a stupid question. Has anyone ever used "Plasti-dip" to use on stranded wire trees? I was thinking I could dip the armatures in the liquid. Hoping a few dips would give me the thickness to cover the strands, and the flexibility to bend the arms a little. Any thoughts?
Interesting, sounds like a good idea. I'm thinking a single dip would probably do the trick though. Does it come in brown? And I wonder if it could be sort-of textured by running some coarse grit sandpaper over it before it finishes drying. Hmmmm...
It works great. Be sure to mix it well and only one layer is needed on the branches. Layer the trunk to your desired thickness. I model N scale so one or two layers is all that is needed. I store mine in my garage and once open it seems to deteriorate quickly. Someone suggested foil under the lid so I tried it but have not checked in some time. It is available in the spray paint section behind lock and key in the bog box stores. I can only find it in black.
yep, thats the only way to get brown cept for 5 gallon buckets,...i called em. I will keep the thoughts above wide open and we'll see how it goes. I guess i'll dip the whole thing upside down first. after it dries, i'll dip just the trunk a couple more times. I've never had any luck storing it for long either, so i'm working out all the details to production line some to use the container all in 1 shot. But i know,...dont rush. thanks guys.
