Even still, I've seen F7s in BN green with the zebra stripes. IDK when they stopped using them however. If bigdave is interested, the Pacific Pride decals are available. I was just t my LHS today and the Pacific Prides came up. He never heard of a factory paint scheme for the Prides and according to him the SP&S Pride had a issue with fire at some point.

Traingeekboy, I liked the BNSF patching on the warbonnets more then the half hearted SP to UP quick jobs.

The BN F7's never survived long. They didn't contain the 567c needed for trade in and quickly disappeared. Most of what BN had in the 80s were the F9's. Mostly stationed as helper units in Marias Pass @ Whitefish, MT. However some articles I've read have suggested otherwise. Half went to the Pacific Northwest, the mild winters in BN's eyes were easier on the aging girls. But the other half stayed in Minneapolis where the BN decided the covered wagons were durable enough to survive the harsh Minnesota winters. A testament to the Covered Wagons. By the early 90s, they were retired, at least that's what I've been able to discover. Most of them converted to MOW Power Packs for the plows. BN-1 and BN-2 were former MOW Power Packs, ex-Northern Pacific. Even then, some F Units were still making branchline runs. I've got a photo somewhere of the last BN F9A to make a run on mainline service. White flags were flown off the unit. How appropriate.

Oh One more thing. There are a handful of Ex-BN F9B's that survived into BNSF as Rotary Snowplow Power Packs. They just traded their MOW Red for Heritage Orange. (Photo is not mine, hence the link): http://www.flickr.com/photos/47914832@N02/5484730912/lightbox/

BN 2075 did suffer from a major prime mover failure on 02/28/1992 and was stored unserviceable.
It was rebuilt as a GP38-2 and returned to service on 10/14/1992.
