Howdy TrainBoard forum members. I'm a new member in Auroro, CO (Denver Metro Area). I've always been a train buff, probably starting with the American Flyer train set I got for Christmas when I was a little kid. I grew up in Rockford. Illinois about 3 blocks from a Milwaukee Road line. When I visited my grandparents in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst, they used to take me on train rides on the C&NW commuter trains into the city and I've been hooked ever since. From my grandparent's back yard I could look out and watch the big steam engines working there way through Proviso Yard, one of the largest train yards in the country in the 50s.

I've been in Colorado for the past 30 years and I try to take rides on tourist/scenic railroads whenever I get the chance.

There have often been times when I was watching a train running down the tracks and had a question about "Why do they do that" regarding some aspect of train operations and I thought this forum might be a good way to get some of those questions answered.

    Regards,
    Tom

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

There are many past and current members of the railroading industry here. Someone will likely have the answer to a question.
