If you had the chance, you coulda headed up I25 to Cheyenne, WY. The UP depot is still standing, and besides housing a museum it also has the Snake River Brewpub- great beers done in house. When I worked in Cheyenne. I'd go to Snake River, order a pizza and a couple of glasses of Big Boy Stout, and sit outside to watch the UP trains change crews, literally in front of me. I was also in line of sight of the roundhouse & the building where 844, 3985, and the E-units are stored.

Made it home late Sunday, just missed the Grand Canyon train from Williams Az.WOW has that town changed, Its all Rt 66 stuff now. Took the Royal Gorge trip, paid for the dome car$$$$ & spent all my time outside on the"open flat"? Was so impressed with the span bridge over the gorge that as soon as the train stopped we raced up to the park for the "view from above" the tracks looked like Z scale from up there. Rode the stand up tram down to the bottom and then drove the truck over the suspension bridge(wood planks). Good times on the trip except for all the white stuff that fell, now I'm glad to be home.

Don't drink the Miller. There's better beers to be had in Wisconsin!

PBR? Is now based out of LA and quite frankly, when it was in Wisconsin wasn't that cool.

I'll tell you right now, I found a grocer in Roseville California that carries Leinenkugel Red. Not the fancy ones, Leinies Red. I am in Cheap mass produced Beer heaven! I've lived west of the Mississippi for 10 years now and this is the first time I've seen it. Too bad it cost me as much as a fancier beer.

Now, if only Pabst hadn't changed the formula on Old Style.

Oh, I suppose I should say something about trains or something... hmmm....
I like sitting on my little deck, drinking a Leinies and watching UP trains go by heading to/from Oregon. ...Oregon, Which has better beer than Colorado (ducks) :D

Yea, and the skiing is better too, right? The only good thing out of Oregon is Micro-Trains!

Get a chance to ride behind SP&S 4-8-4 #700 and SP's famous 4449, and you'll change your mind.........not to mention a ride on the Cascades, the Mt. Hood Scenic, railfanning the P&W and Oregon Pacific..............and a stop at Tillamook for some of their fantastic cheese.

Hey, just sayin......I spent a few months in Salem, OR, and it was an unforgettable time. ;)

Well, the last time I went skiing it was around Lake Geneva Wisconsin, so to me every ski resort on an actual mountain is awesome but I don't think Mt Hood and Mt Bachelor are horrible, but They ain't the rockies either.
At least Lake Geneva had one of the original Playboy club back in the day. I'd argue that makes it better than anywhere in the Rockies...when the club was open. ;)

I'll stand by Oregon Beer being better though.

In addition to the preserved railroad stuff in Oregon, there's also excellent active railfanning in Oregon. No Moffat of course, but more active lines generally.

    You are joking right?

With world renown railroads like Durango & Silverton, Cumbres & Toltec, Georgetown Loop, Royal Gorge, Leadville & Southern, and Cripple Creek & Victor, and microbrews from New Belgium, O'Dell's Wynkoop, Breckenridge, Avery, and 81 others, I'll stand by my previous statement. That's OK, you drink your Oregon beer, it leave more Fat Tire for me! :tb-biggrin:

Ahhhh.... beers are a lot like trains. We all have our favorites, each one a taste to enjoy, share and defend. From coast to coast Mexico to Canada no rights or wrongs just good tastes for each one of us. VIVA LA DIFFERENCE! (some even like near beers)

No problem with the Fat Tire- last and only time I tried it, the stuff tasted like it was brewed in one. Yuck!

Now, Breckenridge's Avalanche......we're talking some mighty fine suds. Or the beers at the Rockslide in Grand Junction (a nice little brewpub in downtown).

Currently, my beer preference can be limited to two words: Shiner Bock.

No, no FriscoBob, You had a bottle of Flat Tire, nor Fat Tire! Flat Tire is brewed out of pure Wyoming condensate, straight from UP 844:parghh:
