I'll be in Omaha, Nebraska in a few weeks. Are there any quality train stores (N scale) or must see attractions? I saw stores listed on the web, but would like recommendations. Thanks in advance, CG
The best train store loaded with N-Scale is House of Trains on about 81st and Maple. It is on the north side of the street and is together with the Omaha Rubber Stamp Company. The owner is very nice. There really isn't anywhere else in Omaha with any N-Scale to speak of.
The Union Pacific Museum is in nearby Council Bluffs http://www.uprrmuseum.org/ Omaha Union Station is also a Museum called the Durham Museum http://www.omaharailroaddays.com/railswest/ If you like to railfan and can travel across the state, the UP tower at Bailey Yard and the historic golden spike museum is open to the public. http://www.goldenspiketower.com/
THere is also a Rock Island Museum and the Iowa Interstate yard is very Railfan friendly. Kenneflick Park has a Centennial and a Big boy on display also.
