For anyone interested, my NS Camp Cars are available on Shapeways along with a few other MOW vehicle conversion parts. Note that Shapeways lead time on Frosted Ultra Detail is well beyond the advertised 2 weeks at this point. Check out photos of a completed camp car - this is as received from shapeways with no finishing or sanding: http://assets.roundmountaingroup.net/ljj/camp.jpg Thanks, Lou http://www.roundmountainmodels.com (this has a link to the shapeways shop)
I've seen photos and they are similar. UP also has a couple of them as well. However, I modeled mine from NS's rebuilt campers. NS is the only railroad using a lot of these anymore - although some others are around for wrecks and other special purposes... - Lou
:thumbs_up:Neat! Some were in town the other day, oh just thought I'd ask can the trailer, camp, thingy be put on a truck in real life?
Interesting question - although I do not know if they can be swapped easily to a truck - I do know for a fact that some are mounted on trucks, not flatcars. The reason is that the MOW Union has raised serious issues about safety - as well as noise when the cars are parked near an active mainline - especially near a grade crossing (blowing horns). So the answer is probably yes! - Lou
Also they were set up in this sort of set up next to the yard. Y. OFFICE ============\ -----R ================ O== ============/ -----A camp cars -----------D ROAD ROAD ROAD ROAD
