I see over on the Atlas board where Victor has gotten hold of the new loco. My Pusher is still telling me Walthers ect. is still sticking to the end of Aug delivery date. Just wondering whats going on. I don't see any other posts of people receiving their's early. So, is Victor special :) or just lucky??? ....Mike

I see that ¤¤¤¤¤ has them listed on their website, and the number in stock has dwindled over the past week. It looks like someone has been buying them, so I would think that someone is able to give a report on how they run.

So because of some rule I have to spend an hour or more searching every model train supplier in the world for this engine? With hints like, "for sale at a place", "*****", and "they have a few left in stock" this all just seems wrong. Jim

I would think that "a place that sells woo woo woo" is enough of a clue for someone who is familiar with said retailer... they're down to 4 now btw ;)

Did anybody else notice at "a place that sells woo woo woo" the painted, unlettered is missing a pair of crank-pins?

Maybe someone who has a good "IN" with "a place that sells woo woo woo" should talk them into advertising on TB. Then their name wouldnt get deleted.

    Just saying !!

*I'm not a real lawyer...I just play one on TB* LOL :tb-biggrin::tb-tongue:

I noticed that, hope it's one the photographer dropped on the floor and not typical. BTW I did the right thing and ordered from a TB advertiser even though it will cost me $15 more each and I'll have to wait a bit longer. I think the unnamed dealer has some sort of 'under the counter' deal with Bachmann, he had a few 4-6-0's long before anyone else too.

But enough of that, anyone have one so we can find out how they run and what they pull like?

Seems like the drivers are out-of-quarter also on the painted, unlettered one.

Sorry about posting. I didn't realize that if i mentioned an online retailer as having an item in stock - with only the intent of demonstrating that the item in question is available and that some have had the opportunity to test the running quality and capability - that my post would be subject to censorship. I know that I am not permitted to voice an opinion about a particular retailer, but I didn't realize it was against the rules to even mention a retailer if they don't advertise with Trainboard.

    Nice.

IT's just a matter of understanding the reason for the rules... Even though Trainboard is supported 'somewhat' by members who contribute monthly to its expenses, the advertising is the real income generator that keeps the site going. If we continually support the NON advertisers in our posts... why would the ones that advertise continue to pay towards the maintenance of this site? I understand that we all want the information... but sometimes we have to understand the means for funding this great site. BTW... the company is in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area... and they really should come on board to support this Forum.

Nah...I wouldnt worry to much about it. The 'system' does the editing automatically. Unless you continually try to circumvent the rules...I am sure admin is more then forgiving. I just mentioned what I did because someone asked why we cant talk about or mention non advertisers. Calzephyr explained it pretty well IMHO. It's all good...life goes on :)

So... back to the topic of the light 2-10-2 by Bachmann...
I'd like to get one 'eventually'... though now is not a good time for me. I would like to get some good feedback on the running qualities and 'hauling' ability of this model before plunking down several months worth of 'lunch money' (yeah it's gotten down to that :( ). Fortunately for me... none of the current releases are in my desired roadname sweetspot... but... perhaps some future release may be one(s) I wouldn't want to pass-up on.

The Atlas forum topic by Victor Miranda pretty much only described the model's mechanical architecture... which Victor was not too impressed with. Still... one must put into context the possiblity that this MAY WELL BE the only light 2-10-2 that ever gets made (in plastic) for N scale. Also... while I'd like to see manufacturers put the best materials and latest construction designs into a model... we all know that the bottom line is the end users cost to purchase. It's a fine line between where that price-point exceeds the means of the end user/modeler. At about $200.00 discounted... for a NON sound equiped model with DCC installed... thats probably were Bachmann drew the line (yeah... their MSRP is steep too). I'd buy one at that price if the roadname was one that may have interchanged with D&RGW (okay... one that was within reasonable proximity to D&RGW ;) near the Rockies).

Although I am NOT a steamer guy...I read these steam threads with interest. I do have a Bachman 4-8-4 that THE Wife uses to pull her SExcursion Trains. I must say I am intrigued by watching all the moving parts as it runs around. BUT...when them moving parts end up getting jammed or wheels get outta quarter(which I am sure they will)...it will become a static display on THE Layout.

    Hmmmmmmmmmm...think I will build a Railroad Museum on THE Layout...in anticipation ! :tb-wink::tb-tongue:

Hey George a museum on The layout would be a great idea! Just think, you could buy one of everything made in steam, and use them as sexcursion locos. Then when the steam bug really bites you will have a head start. :D LOL Oh bet it would maxe her VERY grateful hahaha :D

I did look up that company in MA, seems that they have 2 left, but both were in Canadian liverys. Oh well, if they had them, mine should be in soon, I hope.......Mike

I'd get the 2-8-0. I've had a couple for two years of chaos and they still run flawlessly and pull like nothing I've ever seen.
