Are there any already built and decorated Z-Scale American prototype buildings available out there? Houses, barns, freight buildings, etc.? I have done some looking and have seen very few. Any help would be appreciated.

Dave, you have to have patience. They are available in ebay once a while. I prefer the ones build from brass, and they have excellent detail.

You could try Saveonart. They sell their stuff on Ebay. They make all their building out of solid resin molds, but they are not lightable. You'd have to drill holes in the bottom and through windows to light them up. They offer several types of buildings like what you are looking for at reasonable prices. They almost make several types of vehicles too. Check them out. You might find what you're looking for there.

    Dave,
Check out ztrackrsale.com. The last time I checked they had a few built-up structures and well as some of the Marklin resin cast structures. The Randy Brown cast resin structures are kits, but you'll find they require very little assembly. Also, you'll find there are a few Z modellers around (I'll let them introduce thenselves to you) who will build up a kit for you. In general, most Z structures have some assembly required.

    Micro-Trains Laser Kits

The MT laser kits are, in general, very easy to assemble. You can use markers to paint/stain them. Much nicer than the ready made.

Kim Vellore and myself each purchased one of every finished Miller Engineering metal building that bwbolger offers. His prices were only $10 more than retail, for a professionally assembled and beautifully painted finished model. I could not do a better job myself, and for the price, it's a no brainer... let a pro do it!

You are better served spending your time figuring out where to place them on your layout or module:

    Hi,
I know this is an old post, but you can look at Creative Laser Design kits, www.creativelaserdesign.com, we sell laser cut kits & I do sell models built-up & painted. We have 9 structures kits done in Z scale. I have a few others that I am working on. These are based on local structures here in Vermont.
Check us out, hope we can help you.

Dave, you have some needed alternate kit designs. I would like to see some more semi-modern housing styles, especially flip versions, like tract homes. But, any houses are nice. Smaller track side structures too, but that could be a million designs.

Its still a cottage industry in Z.
