Has anyone tried replacing the snow plow on the HO Atlas GP40-2? It comes with an incorrect plow, but Athearns newer low profile plows are correct for standard latter day geeps and SD's delivered to the Rio Grande. Do the pins match up? Anyone remounted the correct plow on the Atlas GP40-2?

    GP 35?

Jim, I've got a GP-35 from the 70s, but no plow at all. I loved the plows, though.

If no one else answers, maybe the HO Forum would know. :waiting:

I don't know if the pins line up or not, but the DW PL-155 is a good match for Grande units.

Everyone keeps mentioning the DW 155 plow. But I like the Athearn plows better! I'm surprised no one has tried them! They look lovely on the SD40T-2's. Athearn really nailed it. They replaced the ugly plows on the SP units too with upgraded and correct looking plows, which also nail the Southern Pacific plows very nicely, better than the metal ones IMO. Sure, they aren't as stout but it isn't like they need to plow snow or anything!

Lol!:we-laugh: Oh no, no snow on Donner Pass. It's practically tropical. :tb-wink:

Preaching to the choir bub - having made many a trip over Donner Pass during my 15+ years of living in the Sacramento area, and Skiied Sugar Bowl which was very near a great SP railfanning spot. :tb-wink: back atcha

Anyway, the D&RGW plowed little snow in comparison to Donner Pass so those plastic plows will do me just fine.
