Restored steam locomotive C61 20, a 4-6-4, made it's inaugural run 4 June 2011. It will be operating in excursion service on JR-East in Gunma Prefecture this summer.

I look forward to seeing video of it in excursion traffic. I have to got to really like Japanese steam engines since finding the preserved examples in Thailand especially the C56 2-6-0s

How much restoration or steam excursion activity exists in Japan these days? Have world economics had a negative effect on such?

Would swear I had a web site book mark once. It had links to these types of things in Japan. Or am I imagining something?
