Thanks! I should actually have them up tonight, but please keep in mind that Shapeways does have a $25 minimum order. That would be an AWFUL lot of these little guys. The good thing is that with Shapeways, you can order from multiple shops on their site to reach that minimum! Being that I do make some spare change I would be lying if I didn't say I would mind the business staying in my shop, but I also heavily encourage everyone to look around and search the other shops. There are many talented modelers on there and just because they are promoting on here like I am (sometimes shamelessly :tb-biggrin:), doesn't mean that they don't deserve some love too. Ok, enough of that. Back to the project...

I don't think you would have any problem meeting the minimum from orders on this board alone. I would take 20 myself

Very cool!! Thank you! If I may make a request of my own, please post pictures of before and after shots! I would love to see some of my stuff being used and I can't wait to see how they turned out! I did put holes in the center to allow for lighting, but I left the rest of the light a little thick to allow for manufacturing so they might need a touch of drilling to widen the hole. If so please let me know because then if they turned out fine, I can tweak the design slightly and make the holes for the lights a little bigger. This is very exciting!

Heath, I will look into those trailers. I agree that modern stuff is seriously lacking and I will be trying my best to fix that! :tb-wink:

How about some modern Peterbilt 389s to pull those gravel trailers?

Heck yeah we need some of those!!!!! I might just have to paint one up like Optimus Prime as well! That has been added to the cue! My list has about 35 items on it right now and it looks like I am going to be very happily busy!

Thank you Michael! I hope they meet your expectations! You are most welcome and I only hope I can stay as committed for the next decade or more! This hobby is seriously lacking a lot of items, and a majority are modern. I am making it my personal mission to put out quality items that help fill in the missing gaps. Thank you for your order and if you would be so kind as to post pics of your beacons before and after would be grateful!

I would like to make the suggestion of modern heavy equipment (CAT, John Deere, ect...). Excavators, bulldozers, loaders just to name a few. Sure we have Norscot and a few others. But most are a little to big to really be considered N scale. I would love to do something like this.

How about a re body kit to convert a Precision Scale PRR K4 into a Raymond Loewy designed #3768 fully streamlined version (would need a tender shell as well as tender truck frames). There is one in Z scale for some reason but not N scale.

17fixer, you got it! My buddy (the same one who did the auto frames) already makes some in Z scale and I will try and talk him into releasing his stuff in N and if he doesn't want to I sure will! I know it has been needed for quite some time and I want some as well!

Heintz, I will look into this but I'm trying to stay modern. It would definitely be an interesting project though and I will gladly at least consider/attempt it!

Maybe a good option would be different truck beds for the athearn and atlas trucks. Maybe a Tank Truck Bed and a Garbage Bed.
    Just a thought.

First of all, WELCOME TO TRAINBOARD!!! Secondly I thought about that for a few different vehicles, but it would almost be cheaper and easier in the long run to just get whole new vehicles with the different beds attached already so that's what I plan to do. I am going to try and make different versions of a lot of different vehicles so I can make a base design then just swap out backs. Thanks for the suggestion!

That's an excellent idea, Larry - expand on an existing platform, so to speak.

    What is This

What is Shapeways? If I order something do I get to download software or do I get a tangible item in the mail?

I have seen a propane tank made like this using some type of printer. It was pretty good. (May have been at the N Scale Convention Houston, 2010.)

Why are all the scantily clad women on the home page of Shapeways?

Shapeways is a company that uses 3D printers to make the items you see on the page. When you order, they will put a block of plastic into their printers and literally "print" the design that you have ordered and you will get the tangible item in the mail. It is really quite interesting. With the Frosted Ultra Detail material I can make detail parts with details down to 0.1mm thick and wall thicknesses of only 0.3mm!! The reason for the girls in the bikinis on their page is that there have actually been people who have figured out how to make the swimsuits with this kind of computer modeling and 3D printing. It still fascinates me and I am doing this stuff myself!

Here is a link to a YouTube video that shows a little of their process:
