    Thanks for the pics! One question, the box that sits to the left (forward on the engine) side of the blower bulge, is it an electrical cabinet? I know it was added during the rebuild, but I'd like to know what to call it...

    I going to venture a guess is that it is a filter box of some kind, aux gen blower filter equipment blower filter? Something of that nature

    yes it is it started life as either an N&W or SOUTHERN unit this is the outcome after rebuilding into a GP39

    Thank you, I plan on doing an depth write up on my modeling of the GP39Es and I was stumped at what the box was. I know the GP30s had a lot of the electronics in the raised roof so it makes sense that the box is Dash-2 electrical.

    Maybe I am wrong, but it looks to me like the dynamics have been removed.

    The dynamics are still there, the GP30 cab was removed and replaced with a newer EMD cab during the rebuild.
