As I plan to use Atlas Code55 and ME Code40 on my next layout - do stock Kato, Atlas and LifeLike Locos run on ME's Code40 track?

    thanks for your answers!

Newer kato and atlas do fine, couldn't tell you about life like.

It is a difficult answer to pin down. The best thing to do is buy one piece of the Code 40 flex and test your locomotives. That is what I did, and the newer Atlas and Kato are a hit or miss proposition. Most Kato do, but there are some Atlas that don't.

If you are looking for dual rail sizes to distinguish mainlines from branch lines, you may be better off using ME Code 70 where you were going to use Atlas Code 55, and use Atlas Code 55 where you were planning on using ME Code 40.

    OK, thank you.
I think I'll just use a rust color on the siding tracks to distinguish. Code70 is not an option, as I could be using my Peco track then.

    regards
