Here Is A few pics of my first weathered building I weathered it to look really olad and rusted. Was wondering on what you guys thought of it. The black around the bottoms and seams is to simulate coal dust of the many years of none cleaning.
    thankyou
    kwnny.

Thanks I thought It was good for my first. I forgot to say That I did smudge the windows alittle to make them look dirty. I will be putting lights in it and some people near the inside windows.. I cut the doors open to put people around them when I am done.
    Thanks

    Oh…, nice!

This is interesting, because I bought one of these a few years ago for another layout that I still haven’t started. I just don’t remember it being so big. Now I’m going to have to find my unopened box and take a look. :plaugh:

I like it, too. I like the colors in the external steel sheeting.

But I am going to say, "Grimy Black." Grimy black helps all kinds of weathering on all kinds of structures and rolling stock. I would airbrush most of the exterior. Start lightly and put more grimy black on some areas than on others.

    My two cents.

You could probably do this with dark colored chalk.

    Good Start

Now bust out a couple of the windows, make a piece or two of the metal siding look like it's come loose and ready to fall off and keep up with the "coal dust" idea. There will be very little CLEAN ballast around the mine trackage, throw coal dust and small lumps of coal EVERYWHERE.

NOBODY cleans up at coal mines, and coal mines are very dusty. You won't find clean ballast in the yard at all.
