Reports are Richmond Pacific is getting two new GP15-1s. #s are 423 & 424. Here is a link to a pic of 423. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2516119 More stuff for me to hunt!! I'm gonna go broke this summer paying for the gas to find these, the new MET unit and the final Cal Northern genset I need.
Yeah, before gas reaches $6.00 a gallon. You gotta love that new paint scheme though!! Absolutely beautiful!!!! Reminds me of the SP Heritage SD70Ace but in blue instead of red & orange.
That 423 looks to be an ex-Frisco locomotive, judging by the notch in the nose (where a Gyralite would be if it were a Frisco locomotive). The second one, not so sure, but I'm guessing ex-Conrail. I looked on the Diesel Shop roster for GMTX/LLPX diesels, and it doesn't mention either one. That paint scheme is rather sharp.
Hope to catch them here in Richmond soon! Need more pics of GMTX 424. Anyone figure out it's origin yet? Paul
#423 is now on property. #424 is still on the way. Apparently California Northern #113 they were leasing is not on property anymore. Anyone know if it has returned to CFNR?
Very Nice. Hopefully I'll be able to get down there soon. I'm actually waiting for the second unit to arrive as well though so I don't have to make two trips.
rprc I work for the richmond pacific. Hopefully the 424 will be here soon right now were using the 423 and a leased sw1500 gmtx 128.
I don't see the little "F" on the frame that tells the engine crew which end is the front. Did the FRA do away with that?
Flash, The F is stil an FRA requirement, if you look closely in both pictures there is a red F on the side sill between the verticle hand rail and the first stanchion. Scott
Sw1200? Great to have you on here Brian. Are the sw1200s still in use? Haven't seen them around. Paul
I'm still waiting for the second GP15 to arrive before heading down for photos. Hopefully soon. Welcome aboard Brianzine. As for the leasor, I have heard it is ex UPY #1228, nee SP #2683.
424 Working Today I caught GMTX 424 today 8/1. Sorry for the cell phone pic. Looks to be ex Conrail? -Paul
I live in Marin. Just saw this engine near 580. Where is the best places in Richmond to see this railroad? Thanks!
I've always liked the Richmond Pacific paint scheme. I saw one loco in Tacoma after it was completed at Progressive Rail one time. Of course...............no camera with me. DOH!
