Here are some pictures of my staging yard that I am working on. It is a five tracks yard with capacity to hold 50 -60 car trains. JSL
Nice job with the track, I'm guessing easements and everything :tb-wink: Just curious, what radii are the curves in your staging?
Looks nice, should keep those trains rolling on the layout. Hopefully you have something more than those pumpkins to pull 'em, ha! Just kidding, I just have never been a fan of that BNSF orange/green scheme, I'll stick with BN green/black and ATSF blue/yellow, thank you. =)
Cascade Green and Milwaukee Orange Bret the smallest radius in the staging yard is a little over 16 inches. The largest radius is just over 21. Third Coast here is some BN green and Milwaukee Road orange:tb-biggrin::thumbs_up: JSL
I'm a little worried about your inner radii. But then your train lengths seem on the shorter side. I'm sure things will be fine.
The way you have the locos staged is EXACTLY like they look at the North Kansas City BNSF Yard. A neat yard you have, envious.
W Neal, max length of any train will be about 40, even thought the staging yard will handle trains up to 64 to 70 cars. I have tested the three outer tracks and all seems good with 40 car trains - no stringlineing so far. Fred, Thanks for the complement, I like how its turning out - hope my track order comes soon. JSL
It is looking good, no matter what colors are on the locomotives! By the way, what kind of track are you using? And did you think about superelevating the outer tracks? Again, vary nice concept and looking very cool too!
Hey DCESharkman - Using Atlas Code 55 on the layout with Atlas Turnouts plus some ME Concrete flex where appropriate as some section of Northern Transcon are starting to see some concrete ties. Thanks for the complements. Super elevation on visable part of layout is in the plans. JSL
Staging yards are the cat's meow. I enjoy mine and love staging the trains... ready to roll. Yours looks great.
