I have been waiting for the next run of Intermountain Trinity 5161 hoppers in the BNSF swoosh and original herald for too long. They announced the release to be Feb. - Mar. 2011. I kept watching for the arrival of these almost every day lately at my favorite online retailer from ********. So on March 31 I got home from work and went to see if they came in yet. Well they did come in but there was only 1 or 2 left in each road number. I was surprised they didn't get like a dozen of each. Anyways I did a rapid fire order and got all 18 of them. What is cool about this retailer is that they have real time inventory. After I placed my order I could see that I got the last one of several of these. That was too close.

Those are great looking hoppers, good catch! I saw when they posted the swooshes and they didn't last long.

Next I hope IM does some CEFX and TILX lease Trinity hoppers to fill out the BNSF shuttle trains.

I know of several shops that still have the BNSF hoppers. The KCS Hoppers disappeared just as quickly, to include the other online shops I normally use, but I was able to get the full set from the guys you mentioned... :)

Those KCS hoppers were all gone before the BNSF hoppers were. The KCS hoppers are very good looking cars.

I just went and counted my BNSF 5161's and I have 27 of them, so with the 18 on the way I will have 45.Throw in a few of the plain gray FCTX and NRLX (I have about 9 of these) cars and it will be an awesome train with 4 SD 70 Macs on the point.

I got lucky also - and am also surprised they got only a few each. Note there were only twelve swooshes, the other six were the circle cross herald...now if FVM would get a wheel shipment...and Craig says end of May for the reefers...so broke...

I'd be willing to bet that store in ******** gets more of these in the next few weeks. If not , Intermountain severely underestimated the popularity of these. I could see these selling like hot cakes.

All it says is ''add to cart''. Does that mean they really do have them? Some web sites are so unclear if they have them or they can get them. I will not order from a web site that is like this. I want to know the road number of the car I am ordering too. That's why I only shop online at that place in ********. I order what road number I want. Plus they were 1.10 less than ****.

Has anyone got any of the the Exact Rail Trinity 5161's? How do they compare to the Intermountains?

The major difference is the plastic roofwalks as opposed to the etched. A few other minor things make the Exact Rail not-quite-as-good as the IM - but put 'em in a train and they look just fine...

Heaven forbid you guys actually pre-order an item that you know you want....???

I know I said a dirty word but if it is something that is a must have for my layout, it gets pre-ordered. It's not worth taking the chance with runs getting smaller and smaller.

    And how.

The BLMA gons and select series of the Bluford Shops hoppers were both pre-ordered so I could sleep all day and not have to worry about missing out on either one.

And take all of the fun out of the chase to see who stocks 'em first?

Seriously I prefer not to preorder I did once and that was a mistake because it showed up 4 months pass its release date and I only got one of two ordered.I found the missing car number in stock 6 weeks after the car was release and I included the car in my next order from another on line shop...

I wanted some specific road numbers long ago and send the guy an email. Transaction went smooth as silk. I'm guessing he has them in stock but you can email him.

I always preorder anything I really want from TB advertiser Chuck at Feather River. Got an email from him this morning that my 12 BNSF and 12 KCS covered hoppers are on their way to me.

I preorder some items 2 different times from one of my LHS and got half the order I requested. I was told that the reason I was shorted was due to lack of supply from the mfg. My thought was he must not order enough from that mfg to get the orders he requested. I fully understand that as ANY mfg and/or distributor is going to keep the retailers stocked that are going to move the product faster. Especially in this tough economy.
